The School is aware that parents are anxious to know of their children's progress and offers a system of regular reports and parental meetings.
The 5th Year staff hold an open evening towards the end of the first half of the Autumn term so that parents can see how their children are settling into their new School. Similarly there is an early parents’ evening for Year 6, 7 and 8 with Form Tutors so that parents can be assured of a smooth transition to the new year.
Reports and Parents' Meetings
During each term, pupils’ attainment (National Curriculum level) and attitude to learning (graded A – E) is reported on, followed by consultations where parents have an opportunity to discuss this with subject teachers or their child’s form tutor and find out how their child is settling into or progressing through the school. In Key Stage 2 (Years 5 & 6), the Autumn term report will focus on attainment in the core subjects of English, mathematics and science.
All parents are invited to meet their child’s new form tutor at a parents' meeting held during the Autumn term. Appointments can be made using our online booking system.
These are issued to parents annually and will include National Curriculum levels at which your child is working and targets for future work in each subject.
Weekly Newsletter - The Friday Flyer
The school publishes a weekly newsletter, The Friday Flyer, which is sent home with your child and is also available from lunchtimes on a Friday via the school website. This is essential reading and contains useful dates, news, details of forthcoming events and trips, sports results etc.
If you have any concerns about your child's academic progress, the first point of contact is your child's form tutor. If you have any welfare concerns, please contact Mr Dan Hartley, Deputy Head.
